Fenner Dunlop Group

The ultimate solution

HIGH IMPACT, TEAR AND RIP RESISTANT BELTING

Even the strongest, heaviest belts can be ripped, torn or punctured by heavy, sharp materials or foreign objects, either falling from a height or becoming trapped. Belts can often be destroyed within a matter of weeks or months. The Fenner Dunlop solution to this very old problem is a new and unique belt design – Fenner Dunlop Ultra X. Ultra X is a super-strength abrasion resistant 'breaker weft construction' exclusively made by Fenner Dunlop Conveyor Belting. It has outstanding impact resistance and up to three times the rip resistance and five times the resistance to tearing compared to conventional multi-ply belting of the equivalent tensile strength. Despite its numerous physical and technical advantages, Ultra X is also exceptionally economical in every respect.

Belt characteristics

  • Far Superior Impact Resistance
  • At Least 30% greater Splice Joint Strength
  • Excellent Mechanical Fastener Retention
  • Can Be Used on Smaller Than Usual Pulleys
  • Low Elongation, Compared to ‘normal’ Plied Belting
  • Short Take-up Travel Good Troughability
  • Good Running Behaviour

Availability

In order to provide the most economical prices as possible, Ultra X is only available in full rolls of 300m or alternatively of 2 X 150m rolls if necessary. The minimum order for each type is 600 square meters (300m X 2000mm) cut in any combination of he following widths:
Ultra X1- 500mm , 650mm, 800mm, 1000mm, 1200mm,1600mm or 2000mm.
Ultra X3- 500mm, 800mm, 1000mm, 1200mm, 1600mm and 2000mm.

UsFlex FAQ

How can a single-ply belt like Ultra X have a superior rip, tear and impact resistance compared to much thicker and heavier multi-ply belts?

The simple answer is the unique fabric ply that has been developed and is manufactured totally within Fenner Fenner Dunlop. Technically speaking, the fabric uses crimped polyester yarns that provide high strength low stretch. Combined with very strong ‘binder’ and ‘filler’ yarns that create strength and stability under load, the end result is exceptional rip, tear and impact resistance that is far superior to multiple layers of conventional fabric ply.

What kind of life expectancy do Ultra X belts have compared to much heavier, conventional multi-ply belts?

Under normal operating conditions, you can reasonably expect an Ultra X belt to last up to three times longer than the norm. First, there is the unique strength and toughness of the inner carcass. Second is the top quality Fenner Dunlop AA anti-abrasion covers that have excellent resistance to cutting, gouging, and abrasion that outperform typical DIN Y requirements by as much as 20% and which are also 100% resistant to the damaging effects of ozone and ultraviolet light.
