Ferroflex
The ultimate solution
HIGH IMPACT, TEAR AND RIP RESISTANT BELTING
In some applications, especially primary and secondary crushers, even the strongest and heaviest conventional belts can be ripped or torn by large lumps of heavy, sharp objects, either falling from a height or becoming trapped. Belts can often be destroyed within a matter of weeks or months. The Dunlop solution to this problem is UsFlex, which has longitudinal rip resistance more than five times that of multi-ply belts of equivalent rating because of our unique straight-warp construction. UsFlex provides impact resistance up to three times greater than that of conventional plied belting. This unequaled toughness means the belt will not be easily damaged in the loading and conveying of large, sharp material. As a result, UsFlex will provide the longest belt life in the harshest conditions!

Super strength
The highly successful Fenner Dunlop Ferroflex elevator belt has a steel reinforced carcass construction with particularly good low elongation characteristics. This makes it ideally suited to elevators with short take-up systems. Ferroflex ‘SW’ has a tension layer composed of longitudinal steel cords, through which power transmission is effected, together with two transversal layers of steel cords situated on either side of the longitudinal steel cords. These transverse steel cords reinforce the belt to provide outstanding durability and excellent bucket and fastener strength. Other significant advantages of the Fenner Dunlop Ferroflex carcass include high bolt tear resistance, excellent clamping characteristics and its suitability for use on conveyors with small pulley diameters. In addition to the Ferroflex SW standard ‘full width’ steel-reinforced carcass, there is also the Ferroflex FKS, which has custom-made ‘cable-free zones’. These zones make the installation of buckets and fasteners easier and help to create a dynamically stronger endless belt.
Availability
Standard profile widths range from 400mm up to 1600mm, depending on profile type. Dunlop ‘super strength’ chevron belts are available in RA (high abrasion resistant), and ROS (mineral oil resistant) qualities. Other cover grades are available on request. All Dunlop chevron belts are supplied with moulded edges.
Ferroflex FAQ
Dunlop low chevron (16mm) and high chevron (32mm) belts are different because the profiles are moulded and vulcanized with the base belt in one continuous production process. This creates a single homogenous structure that is far stronger than belts that have the chevrons attached separately and superior integral strength that allows it to be used on applications with smaller pulley diameters.
Dunlop chevron belts have an outstanding reputation for longevity. In addition to the use of the single, continuous vulcanization process, the Dunlop Superfort and Dunloflex carcasses significantly exceed the international standards for tensile strength at break (for both carcass and covers). They are also much less prone to delamination because of the excellent adhesion between the plies and between the covers and the carcass.
